Whitebark pine trees are icons of North America’s mountain landscape. They are a keystone species that stands at the center of a web of life that supports dozens of plants and animals, including grizzly bears, red squirrels, and Clark’s nutcrackers. Today whitebark pine faces the very real threat of extinction.
