Letter from the Founder

Here in the heart of Manhattan, one of the world’s most urban centers, it’s easy for us to feel disconnected from the natural world.

I founded the New York WILD Film Festival in 2014 for New Yorkers to reconnect with the natural world through extraordinary films and conversations.

By sharing these films and bringing together filmmakers, scientists, explorers, sponsors with our audience, the festival has given a new appreciation for the power of documentaries. New York WILD has  been a catalyst for change and a tribute to the awe-inspiring beauty and diversity of our planet. I’ve been overwhelmed by the festival’s impact over the years.

The 10th New York WILD Film Festival in April 2024 was the final year for the festival. I am so grateful to the many filmmakers who entrusted us with their stories, as well as to the people featured in these films who are working tirelessly to enact change in various fields around the world.

My gratitude also goes out to the generous sponsors and donors who have supported the WILD mission over the years, and to the audiences who share in our passion for exploring, discovering, and protecting the natural world.

I couldn’t have accomplished the festival without the tireless support of the WILD team, jury, pre-screeners, advisory board, Aspire AV team, and volunteers. A special thank you goes out to The Explorers Club for a decade of hosting New York WILD.

This community has been the heart and soul of the New York WILD Film Festival.  Thank you for joining us over the years to celebrate the WILD
