Hunting the Helmeted Hornbill

Official Selection

Helmeted Hornbills are poached for their casques, which are carved into luxury objects similar to elephant ivory. These birds are treasures of avian biology and denizens of the Southeast Asian rainforests. Conservationist Yoki Hadiprakarsa and photographer Tim Laman film a courting pair of hornbills and reveal the scale of poaching facing the species.
